YJourney

YJourney is the youth wing of Journeying. It was set up in 2009 to complement the mission of the main 'parent' organisation by offering similar experiences for young people with an emphasis on action and adventure. After more than 10 valuable years, we are currently resting Y Journey while we undertake a period of review, refocusing the compass for the next ten years.

So what makes YJourney different? There are already several organisations in Britain that offer strong provision for young people in a Christian context including Scripture Union holidays and various festivals, however being part of Journeying means that YJourney reflects the ethos of its parent where terms such as 'small', 'informal,' and 'off the beaten track' are key to the experience.

The YJourney holiday does not follow the large scale celebration model. It doesn't seek to 'convert', but rather explore (faith, people, the natural world etc.) It's small-scale (up to 20 people) and embraces the outdoors while remaining safe and inclusive.

Our Trips

Health and Safety guidelines are strictly adhered to, the team are experienced youth leaders and DBS checks are in place. Best practice is always a priority with the necessary insurance, consent forms and planning in place. We value your continued prayers, as we continue to seek to reach teenagers for Christ in this unique spirit of adventure.

Yorkshire Dales 2011
The first trip was to the Yorkshire Dales in 2011 - a very successful venture with hugely positive feedback. This lead on to the second full-scale 'time-away' in Cumbria during 2012.

Cumbria 2012 & 2013
Cumbria was again our destination for 2013. Our young people loved a wild and scrambly climb up Catbells (near Keswick) on a moody and magnificent day. The service on the summit of Latrigg was profound and worshipful as we built a cairn, made from stones each young person had collected. Every stone contained a promise from God. Outdoor activities are a core part of any YJourney holiday experience with water based activities often a highlight. Fun and hilarity was the order of the day when we built rafts. Note how one leader Mark, displayed true dedication by taking the place of a barrel that had floated away!

Derwentwater 2014
It was time for a different water activity in 2014 so we took to a Dragonboat, racing our way across Derwentwater.

Peak District 2015
The Peak District was our destination in 2015. During a breezy day of walking we managed to find a sheltered spot for some outdoor worship and prayer activities. A YJourney tradition is the wide game, usually featuring leaders in silly costumes. In 2016 it was Jon as the White Rabbit and Pippa as Alice in Wonderland who took to the streets of Keswick trying to evade detection by the teams of young people.
