Frome Valley Walk

Frome Valley Walk

On Saturday 30th September a group of eight people and two dogs met on Frenchay Common in Bristol and enjoyed a leisurely 5 mile walk along the River Frome. Although it was a little muddy underfoot the rain held off and the sun even put in an appearance now and again!

It was interesting to walk through what had once been quiet, rural areas, but which were now dominated by the roar of traffic from a ring road and motorway above our heads. Much of the walk was, however, peaceful, with the sounds of the river accompanying us along the Way.

We stopped for lunch near a local football pitch and a couple of our number had the chance of showing their skills by kicking the ball back when some practice shots came our way.

We then retraced our steps back to the Common, where we were able to visit the Quaker Meeting House to enjoy some tea and biscuits and learn about the history of the building and the local Quaker Movement.

It was then a short walk back to our varying modes of transport, where we said our goodbyes and hoped to meet again on another walk in the future.
