Description

Step into the wide, open landscapes of Wesley country in North Lincolnshire and join us for a day walk designed to refresh body, mind, and soul. Together we’ll walk in the footsteps of John and Charles Wesley, and also pass by the historic place where St Oswald is said to have fallen on his final journey.

We begin in Epworth, the birthplace of the Wesleys, before walking onward to Haxey. Along the way, we’ll pause at the highest point of our route (a mighty 133 feet above sea level!) for a short reflection and time to take in the far-reaching views (weather permitting).

In Haxey, we will take a break at the King’s Arms where coffee and tea can be bought before returning to Epworth via the old railway line. We finish our walk at The Old Rectory, home of the Wesleys, where you may choose to take a guided tour. Alternatively, visit St Andrew’s Church (close to the car park) where Samuel Wesley served as Rector for most of his life.
