Community
Journeying has always been more than a tour company. Each of our volunteer journey leaders has discovered a deepened closeness to God through travel to remote, liminal places and it is this 'connecting on the edge' that we wish to share with others; it is our ministry of the outdoors.

People may arrive as customers but they leave as friends and many of these new friendships are for life often being revisited on a subsequent holiday. Our community of friends is virtual as well, through our newsletter and on Facebook.

Friends of Journeying
The Friends group offers valuable support at the heart of Journeying:
- Friends provide valuable support through prayer and acting as a sounding board for ideas – offering a listening ear.
- Friends may initiate discussion and bring ideas themselves. It’s a two-way thing!
- ‘Reaching out,’ by bringing an awareness of Journeying to others. This includes forwarding the Journey Programme and other press releases to local churches and news outlets. It might involve organising a promotional stall at a church or community event.
- Where a leader is planning a day walk they may contact a Friend living in the area, asking if they could help fill a knowledge gap or if they would like to join the leader on a recce.
What sort of commitment is expected of members?
- Friends, just like the leaders, have various degrees of availability and, like the leaders, members must offer what they can depending on circumstances. A couple of hours’ active engagement every month might be a useful measure. And prayer of course, always.
